Today is Labor day and you know what it means to me? Not much. I've always worked in industries that were open on holidays. In the 29 years of my working life I've had a handful of Christmas's and Thanksgivings off.
It's just part of the Food and Beverage gig. When everyone else is out grilling or hanging out at the lake we're in a slow restaurant or bar hoping that someone sober will come in and spend money. Doesn't always happen.
Do I celebrate labor day? Not really. I'm glad that my wife has a career and soon I will be employed but I think the best way of showing thanks is by doing a good job.
